Dear steve v,
Hope you're well. Glad it was something simple, e.g., a disconnected wire.
To make under-body connections water-resistant, get some butyl rubber tape. This can be had at auto glass stores.
Butyl rubber is usually black, always sticky and doesn't harden with time. It conforms to items around which it is wrapped and bonds to itself, forming a solid seal. If it has to be removed, use a razor-edge knife. Make sure the area is dry (don't want to trap water] and clean of grease/dirt. Use a solvent (acetone or methyl ethyl ketone [aceton's slower-evaporating cousin]) to clean. Then apply butyl tape.
The REAL "Godfather of Volvoworld" is Dave Stevens. See his dianostic guidance provided to me. Worth its weight in Gold!!!!
Hope this helps.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
