Do dash warning lights dim when you turn the key to "start"? If so, bad battery, or bad connection between posts and cable terminals. If not, the solenoid is not pulling in, so you are back to checking the signal path between key and solenoid, with the NSS a prime suspect.
Attaching jumper cables means jostling the cable terminals on the battery posts and that may be where the issue lies. Loosen those terminals just enough to wiggle them back and forth and retighten. Might be that simple.
