Cabin Electronics 900 1995

My 1995 960 Wagon has a problem with the electronics to the gear shifter, power windows, and sun roof. They don't always work. It occurs when you first start the car. Sometimes I can remove the key and re-start the engine and they will work.
Anyone familiar with this problem?

Muchas Gracias

    Dear Ron J,

    Hope you're well. As I don't own/operate a 960, I awaited comments by the Board's bona-fide 960 experts. As they've not commented, I'll offer what help I can.

I do not have any wiring diagrams for a 960. However, the Volvo pocket data booklet - Cars (700, 850, 900) 1991-1996 shows - for each model (or group of models) - which fuses control specific items, e.g., horn, headlights, etc.

For the 1995 960, there is a "relief relay", which protects the power sunroof and the power window circuit(s). If this relay has failed, that would explain part of the problems you report.

Unfortunately, I cannot find in Volvo VADIS - the superseded dealer parts/service database - any reference to this "relief relay". Thus, I do not know where it might be.

    I hope a Brickboarder - with a wiring diagram for a '85 860 - will point to this relay's location.

I hope this very limited help is useful.

    Yours faithfully,

    Spook
