Starter on a 240 is not that hard, due to easy access from underneath. However, access to the 18mm bolts (two) is the trick. I have done a starter roadside by rolling the driver's side front wheel up onto a ramp -- gives you plenty of room to work. You will need a large 1/2" ratchet or breaker bar with a universal joint and about 36" of extensions. I think I use a 24" and 12", but they might be shorter. You snake that mess up to the bolts and use the breaker bar from way back by the driveshaft center support bearing. Impact tools make it much easier, but you can break 'em loose just fine with a breaker bar.
Good luck.
