A/C High Pressure Gauge Hookup 900 1993

Is there a place to connect a high pressure gauge on a 1993 940 A/C so I can recharge the system?

On the 740s I connected the high pressure gauge to the fitting the HPCO (High Pressure Cutout) switch was mounted on.

I don't see a HPCO switch on the 940.

Thanks!

It fills through the brass port attached to the dryer that usually has a yellow plastic tab that says 'R134'. There is also a sticker in that area or maybe on the diagonal tower brace that has the correct weight of refrig, but as mentioned that's from empty. A decent shop I believe can top off correctly, but not positive about that.

hello
pretty sure there is no where to hook up gauge to high side.
probably tap one in somewhere.
believe the correct way is to measure weight from empty.
takes a little more than 2 cans in my experience.
good luck
mike

Thanks Mike. It makes for difficult partial recharging since they usually leak a little each year. Any ideas on what the low pressure side pressure should be at different temperatures with R134A?

hello
i just pick the hottest part of the day and slowly fill and watch the thermometer in the vent.
when it gets down around 40 degrees im good to go.
i dont go higher than 40psi on the low side and would rather see 30-35 psi but that depends on the ambient temp. its very hot in south florida.
this is not a reccomended method as if there is a blockage you could be in trouble and possibly get hurt or ruin your compressor.
good luck
mike

Low side pressures at given temperatures 900 1993

Hi Glen,

I assume this calculator (and other charts online) are citing static, stable pressures after several hours of non-use.

I have never understood what use those charts are for. It simply is the pressure of the gas (and liquid) in a closed container at various temperatures. Maybe its something that self designated experts like to bandy about to display superior knowlwdge. No one has ever been able to explain to me what the practical use is. Certainly of no use when charging a system.
