Postmortem on my first rear brake job 900

Hi all,
Just did my first rear brake job. On one side the pads were worn down very evenly, but on the other side, one pad was worn down much more than its counterpart. What does this mean? I actually had quite a bit of brake pad left with exception of that one pad, so I had to change everything out.

it sounds like a piston is stuck.were you able to push it back in all the way to install the new pads ?

Yes. I was able to push it back without a problem.

It does sound like the Pistons on the side with the thick Pad is hanging up.

Or

the side that wore out quick; could be the Pad was riding on a very dirty surface and couldn't retract.
All the pistons retracted back into the Caliper OK, even the side with the thick pad?

Yes, they all retracted with the same amount of ease.

It probably means that one piston is much slower to retract than the other, leading to pad wear on one side. Pay close attention to the pads and be prepared to replace the caliper at the appropriate time with a rebuilt unit. This is normal: they corrode over time.

I will definitely keep an eye on how these wear down over time.

Thanks!
