Heater control valve options and quality 200 1990

On to the next project. My heat is stuck on! I see IPD sells the OE direct-fit metal valve for $160. FCP and eeuroparts sells the scantech plastic valve "kit" for ~$45. I have no history on the valve other than it has at least 100k on it. I'm due for a coolant change and would like to change out the valve as well. Any suggestion?

Even when the valve was "working" it only had 2 settings. 1.)sort-of off and 2.) full heat
