Problem with new in-tank pump 200 1984

Yikes, rust tanks!

I would hope a mechanic will know the difference between the sound of a noisy main and noisy tank pump. If not, the owner can test this easily by running each pump separately at the fuse panel with the motor off. In the turbo, fuse 5 is removed, and the fuses are 5 and 7 instead of the 4 and 6 depicted here, but the result is the same: jump to the left side of 5 to hear the main pump, and the right side to hear the tank pump.

Also, out-of-box failures are frequently reported on tank pumps. I had this experience just a few weeks ago, and managed to get it working anyway. The info is here: http://cleanflametrap.com/transferPump.htm
