Tailgate Trim Repair 700

I have the anti rattle kit that can be used to replace the top connection points in my tailgate panel. That all looks well but I have some broken pieces on the bottom side. Two of the four connection points on the bottom that are washer shaped are mostly gone.

I was thinking of trying to somehow glue washers of the same size there. Has anyone tried something like this?

If I understand this correctly, you're saying that the tabs the plastic fasteners go through are broken out. What I did with mine in this case was just drill holes in the pockets at right angles to the tabs and use sheet metal screws directly into the aluminum, which just happens to conveniently kick up behind the panel.

It should be possible to do this with some of the new plastic adhesives out on the market. When you get it figured out, write it up for the FAQ and send it to me.

I have had good luck with a 2-part Epoxy for Plastic sold by Harbor Freight.
Stinks, but I guess that is what causes good adhesion.

If you find something that works, let us know. Even the "anti-rattle" kit eventually breaks down. Drives us nuts. :)
