Rear Wheel Bearing Info 120-130

Sorry, I have some nice pics but the BB galley won't take them, regardless of the fact that they are jpgs and less than 60kb.

Anyway, using my new bearing press I removed the bearing from one of my spare axles and got the bearing numbers.

The outer bearing cup is number "14276 Bower USA"
The inner bearing cone is number 14132 T Bower USA"

When I asked at the local parts store, they told me that the 1800, 120 and 544 all use the same rear bearing. I assume that this does not apply to the rare rear ends.

In free bearing, the cone looks pretty nice - I might not need to buy a new one. I'm not sure how to tell, but it has no rust and moves freely. The cup has some very light surface rust but would probably shine up well if I took some steel wool to it.

So, how do I use these numbers to track down the proper replacement through a bearing supplier? I imagine that these numbers are not the "standard" bearing number.

Also, how do I tell if this bearing is shot? I have some nice photos that I could share for clarity, if needed.

Thanks for any info

If you take those parts to a bearing place they can furnish new ones.
Those ARE standard bearing numbers.

That's good to know. I was able to sorta find matches for the Timken numbers (same), but I had no luck in finding these numbers in the actual Bower catalog.

Similarly, I could find very little in the way of retail on-line bearing sources. Kind of annoying. I guess, I'll just need to start calling around locally and see who will sell retail.

I have never been to a bearing supplier that would not sell retail.
Allied Bearings Supply is one chain that may have an office near you.
Check your yellow pages for bearings or ball bearings, etc.

Hello,

If you do not have experience checking bearing surfaces, you should either consult a mechanic or someone with some experience, possibly a parts counter person to inspect your bearings and races.

It is obvious to me that the bearings have been changed at least once in their life as you have Bower bearings.

Originally, they would have had Timken brand bearings even though SKF Bearing was the parent company of Volvo.

This was because the rear ends were made by Dana Spicer and they used Timken bearings.

P.S. I have those axle bearings in stock in Timken brand as well as axle grease seals.

What little I know about bearing is that no lube = bad, any rust at all on the rollers = bad, and free movement = good.

I pulled my other spare axle and freed that bearing. It is similarly free of rust and moved freely.

Still... It'd be a good thing to have a nice new pair of bearings and races and I'd very much like to have a pair of oil seals on hand when I change out my bearings.

What do you get for your sets? Feel free to send me a private e-mail.
