Temp. gauge fluttering 87 745 700

Acts like a bad connection, intermittant, started yesterday on a bumpy road, continued for at least 45 minutes, then back to normal. Has also occurred several days after a pressure wash. No real distinct pattern though? Never exceeds a normal reading so I don't think it is grounding out?

Sending unit was replaced over 300,000 mi. ago, checked connection on the head-no visible corrosion.

Will take a look at instrument panel this evening! Any other connections to check?

Anyone ever see this problem?

Thanks
Tom

Temp. gauge FYI 700

Gauge is OK- checked all the circuits for continuity on the back of the inst. panel. Grounded the gauge-straight to overheat position.

DVOM on the sender-reads open circuit. Shoved the connector on real tight and it's working again.

Time for a new sender? Harness should be good, replaced a couple years ago.
