WASO gas cap key replacement number 120-130

Several locksmiths have told me that they cannot get a blank key for the WASO locking gas caps found on many 544s and 122s. Pete Groh at britishcarkeys.com sent me a couple of blanks that he thought might be close enough to work.

Sure enough one of them did. The width of the key blank shaft is a bit narrower than the original WASO but it fits in the lock cylinder and works without fuss.

The key appears to be for a Toyota ignition! I no longer need to live in fear of losing the one good gas cap key that came with the car.

    I have had this one for years, maybe it is not produced anymore.
    ilco brand YU1 X153 made in Canada.
    That's not the best part....
    the other side says "for YUGO".
    AAAHHHH!!!!

      Tom, is this what your key looks like? I have an original 73-74 WASO 140 gas cap and your Yugo looks like this style. I've been looking for a blank for my 1960 Amazon-S WASO, but my blank says Dominion Lock, Co. Montreal WS3. I wonder if WS is WASO?

        Cam,
        After your post I realized my reference was for the cap for my '70 and '72 140 series.
        Hasty post on my part since we're talking about 120 series caps.
        I have a 120 series cap somewhere (pentagon shape) but can't seem to find it to check the compatability of the key in that one. If I come across it I'll check to see if the Yugo key fits.

        Anyway, this is the cap and keys for the 140.
