My 1993 240 wagon is having emergency brake problems. It wasn't holding at all, and an adjustment did nothing. My mechanic said things weren't right under there, so he replaced the cables and put things back together correctly. He said it looked like someone had tried something and messed things up. But the brake still doesn't hold on a slope. My mechanic looked everything over. Shoes are only two years old - I found a receipt for that work in the glove box when I bought it last summer. Drums are fine. All cables and springs are functioning. I can move the car with the brake set on level ground, but it won't hold on a slope.
