V70 Bifuel-the GPL keeps cutting. Volvo won't acknowledge the problem V70-XC70 2003

I own a V70 Bifuel (petrol + GPL). The GPL has never worked since the very beginning; when you switch to GPL the car cuts out whilst you're driving it, which means that the steering wheel blocks and the car turns off completely which is incredibly dangerous when you're coming round a bend on the motorway with no hard shoulder (this is Italy!) or even coming up to a roundabout where you need to turn and brake. You then need to restart the car on petrol. Sometimes this happens after 1km, after 20km or after 200km of driving it on GPL. The car has been endlessly back & forth to Volvo, who "cannot find anything wrong with it". I have basically driven it for 2 yrs on petrol (a very small tank I hasten to add). The car's guarantee is about to run out and Volvo here in Italy refuse to acknowledge the problem (I'm British but live in Italy where the car was purchased). They now say it's the way I'm driving!
Any suggestions? why does this happen? will they resolve it? Any way of applying pressure with Volvo's headquarters? if so, where? in Sweden?
