Trunk lock question S40-V40 2001

The trunk is unlocked when the car doors are unlocked. Push the black area around the trunk keyhole. The trunk should open. If it doesn't open, push the trunk button on the keyfob. Then push the black area to open the trunk.
The trunk does not pop open like some other cars. You have to open it manually.
