Your question about the "flame trap" -- it is the PCV. Check it as well as the large and small (vacuum) hoses for dirt and blockage. Clean them with kerosene or engine degreaser, be careful of the vacuum line plastic part, it is easy to break off. A new part at the dealer is about $25.

Once the RMS starts leaking, it will continue to leak. That is why we need to check PCV / flame trap for cleanliness.
