overheating S80 2000

My 2000 s80's engine warning light came on (Fuel system needs service) and then it overheated. Any suggestions before I take it to the shop?

Also, I was interested in getting a service manual to work on the car my self. I'm a pretty good mechanic, but not a professional. Worthwhile?
