John,

I see your point. The children will come first and the car neglected. Volvo's like their maintenance, and as long as it is done they are dependable cars. I haven't owned the 850 long enough to really complain about maintenance yet, but that day may come....

As for parts - I understand your point here also, but I just bought a used ABS module (OEM) and had it refurbished for a total cost of $180. Since I can install the unit, the cost to replace the ABS module was well below $200. I will use the $300+ I saved on some other goodies.
