Although the ECU could be bad- it is very doubtful as they seldom fail.
My guesses: 1) battery 2) electrical connection to starter 3) starter
4) ignition switch.
Rig a test on the positive and negative leads into the starter - determine if any current is reacing the starter when the ignition is hit. If the battery is strong- then could be your ignition switch.
Batteries can be tricky- make certain it is not the simple culprit.
If you cant figure it out- take it to a good mechanic or the dealer. You don't want to shell out $750 plus USDs for a new ECU if it is not needed.
Good Luck
