The world loves to taunt the poor, R's a plenty in Australia... 850

Actually i just re-looked at the offending website (carsales) and those cars are FINALLY gone. It only took 18 months.

Sounds like you might be in Melbourne! There are a couple of yards here that have had R's for aaaages. But one of the vehicles at least started at around $34k, and has slowly come back from there.

It is quite strange here that a lot of the 850SE's etc are asking $20k, and when the R's come up they just can't seem to sell, even when asking around and below this. I saw a green R sedan about 8 months ago where the price just kept getting lower and lower (think i saw it at $16 or $17k was the last). Might be the same car you are referring to. I was tempted, but really i wanted a wagon and a manual, so in the end decided to wait.

Wonder why. . . . is the Australian market just not aware of the 'R' model?

The R's great passing the 5.0L Holden hoons :) I've been asked a couple of times at lights "what the f*&% is in that", and had the satisfaction of saying "completely stock 8yr old volvo, 2.3L" :) :) No need to mention the turbo, hehehhehehehe.
