I have been in contact with a fine gentleman by the name of Rich Kelley, who has supplied me with a parts list for the installation of heated seats in a 2000 S80 T6 that came without them. It is as follows:
9168282 Push button seat heater left $6.84
9442462 Push button seat heater right $10.69
8686606 Back heater grid, you would need two $65.83
8619430 Bottom heater grid, you would need two $56.24
9442947 Control module for heating grids you need two $116.40
9194292 wiring harness, you need two $15.21
8651378 Software down load application $25.00
He went on to say that his shop would require eight hours of labor for installation. Although the price for the parts seems reasonable, $720 just for the installation puts it far out of my reach. I was wondering if it would be possible to do this installation myself. I am assuming that the removal/disassembly/reassembly of the seats would be the most formidable task. I am also aware that I would have to have a Volvo Dealership perform the software installation.
Would any of you guys have the instructions on hand for what I would need to do to install this? I know that for the first two parts, I would simply pry out the plug on the ECC and insert the buttons. I would also need to put a fuse in the fuse cluster in the appropriate place.
Therefore, I need instructions on removing and disassembling the seats for the installation of the heater grids and the control module, and instructions on installing these parts properly. I also need help with where the wiring harnesses go.
If you guys would be kind enough to provide me with instructions as listed above, I would be most greatful. I would like to do a partial disassembly of the seats to make sure it is within my ability, and scope out where everything goes before I order $500 worth of parts.
One final question: would I be able to just purchase half of the parts, and do one seat only? Or would this confuse the software and cause problems? This car is under warranty and I don't want to do anything that could jeporadize that.
Thank you very much. I appreciate your time and consideration.
