I recently found a chipped spot in the paint about the size of a fingernail. I have several questions for you vets out there. First, it's chipped down to a grey surface--is that an undercoat or is it the metal itself? Is it safe just to paint over the spot with touch-up paint? Second, if I do that, do you have any advice about how to do a good job of it? I touched up my old car a couple of times, and it looked terrible. That was a Corolla, so I didn't mind as much as I will if my year-old V70 looks like crap (even if it's only in that one spot.) I called my dealer and he said that their body shop would paint the whole panel and charge several hundred dollars to do it, so he recommended touching it up myself. I'm just nervous as someone who has done a sloppy job of this before. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
