I just put on IPD's sport springs last weekend. You definately need a spring compressor, I bought one for $45 though you can rent (check out like a library book) one from most autoparts stores (Checker). It took quite some time 5 1/2 hours, mostly from compressing and uncompressing the springs, It would have been much quicker with an air gun. But it saved me at least $200, and I have the satisfaction of knowing that I did it myself!
