ABS Controller - Can We Live Without It?

I would not want to be without it. Yep, I think I'm a good
driver. Above average skills, etc. But when a SUV turned left
in front of me at an intersection all that went to hell as
the adrenaline pumped into me (lots of adrenaline means no fine
motor control of muscles -- thats why you shake) and I rammed
the brake to the floor. Surprised I didn't break the brake
arm (its plastic). The car stopped very fast and my family
avoided a bad accident. Fortunatly, the person behind me was
also a good driver and had enough space between us to stop (maybe
they also had ABS).

I also wonder why ABS drivers have more single car accidents.
The ABS on Volvos seems pretty good in that it rarely
engages when it should not. I have driven some GM cars that
surprised mew when the ABS engaged at average (for me) stops
at red lights. They kicked in way earlier then my Volvo does.
