A lot of folks seem to think the EGR valve is usually fine and cleaning everything usually does the trick. I'm going to get-in-there this weekend, clean the flametrap and throttle body while I'm at it and see if I can clear out any deposits in the intake maniflold. I'm going to give the exhuast pipe (the one threaded into the valve) a tap with a hammer to see if it free's up any carbon/dirt buildup as well....maybe I'll get lucky. If the warning lamp (code) persists then I will remove the valve completely and do a proper cleaning job. It just means a trip to the dealership for the gaskets at a busy time of year when I have better things to do!!
