Help, I am going nowhere fast.
I just messed with the code reader, and now my transmission will not shift into gear.
Unfortunately I did two things at once:
I changed oil and for the first time ever, I tried to reset the service light. (I used instructions from someone in one of the archives, and it checked out with the procedure on Bay 13 at volvospeed.) The first time I turned the ignition back on the light came back on, so I repeated the procedure and it then went off as it should. ?Did I mess this up?
Then without going anywhere or doing anything, I tried to look at the codes for the ABS system, becsause I have been having intermittent ABS and TRACS warning light problems. (Lights come on on hot weather, and then go off when ignition is turned off and and reset ok when it is turned on again.) I followed my Haynes manual & got codes 213, 214 which mean rear sensor faults and 141, 142 which mean pedal position & stop light switch problems. Then I followed the manual and erased the codes, turned of the ignition and started up to drive out, but then the problems started:
First the ABS light stays on after all the others go off (TRACKS does not stay on). I checked the codes on it again, and it reads 111, or all correct! Did I mess anything up doing this??
Even worse, now I can move the shift lever into drive or reverse, but the transmission does not engage. So have I confused the poor computer or what?? Any tips would be welcome as right now I am going nowhere!
