Thank you for your tips. I think somebody may benefit from what I found out about my problem with the rattling noise.
Yesterday (Sat) I spent most of the day looking for the noise.
I double checked the brake pads and any other loose items.
I found the A/C accumulator loose and making noise. But this was not the noise I was after.
I then disconnected the sway bar. I removed the links on both sides to isolate it. I then drove the wagon and the noise was still there.
I removed the right strut assy. and took it apart to look at the bushing, bearing and the strut itself. Everything looked OK, the strut seemed a little loose but nothing broken.
I put it all back together and decided to remove the left strut assy. and install it on the right side, and the right on the left side.
Everything lined up OK, I put it all back together and took it for a spin.
The noise is now gone when driving straight ahead. The rattle noise is now present on the left side but only when making a right turn.
It seems to me that there is something loose in the strut or maybe the upper bushing makes metal to metal contact internally.
Your toughts will be greatly appreciated.
