Another reason:

Some world markets apply taxes based on engine size so that can
affect the engine used in a given market. There is a 2.0Liter,
5 cylinder, high pressure turbo engine for 850/s70 T5s available
in some markets (where they heavily tax anything over 2.0 liter,
presumably).
