Hi all,
Last year the car was testing using the tailpipe emission. It passed with a lot of margin. This year, the test procedure has changed in Georgia. They are using the OBD to have the car diagnosed itself.
The car failed the emission test because the "ODB Readiness" was not ready. There is no current or pending code in the computer. So everything is correct but the OBD computer has not completed the diagnostic of all the system. According the regulation, this means that the car emission status in not determined. All the self diagnostic has not been completed.
I checked on the WEB and I found some documents that suggest that my car (850) is in a category af car that have problem with that issue. For the Volvo, you need to have a series of specific driving cycle for these test to complete. There is also a TSB from Volvo (according ALLDATA) addressing this issue. Is someone here have access this TSB? If yes, can I get a copy or a summary.
I called the dealer. I have been told that there is a lot of peoples that are in my situation in GA now. My car is out of warranty (81K miles) but Volvo will pay to fix it. They told me that they have to go thru a procedure that may take 2 days (warming up cycle and driving it) to have this OBD flag been OK. After this procedure, I need to have the car retested.
Is there anybody here with more info.
Thank you
