Has Someone actuall reset the Check Engine Light on their own? V70-XC70 1998

i bought the obd2 software program. i hook it up to my computer, find out what codes it set and clear the codes and reset CEL with one click of the mouse.
program cost me around $120. 2 visits to the mechanic to reset the light would cost almost that much.
