Replacing anntena

I am replacing an anntena on my wifes accord. I notice having looked at my S70 anntena that it is very similar.

What i would like to know is that after i get the locknut off and can see the anntena, do i just pull the anntena hard and it comes out? I notice that there is a brass part with threads on the outside showing. This thing seems to be like an outer shell on the anntena. Do you just pull on the anntena and it comes out leaving the brass threaded part in the annten housing? I was pulling pretty hard but it didnt come out.
