Inconsistent transmission V70-XC70 2000

Chris,

I've got a 2000 V70 R AWD with a 5 speed adaptive tranny. I know EXACTLY what you mean, my tranny does the same. It doesn't matter if it's cold or warm, weird and rough shifting is all I'm getting. Especially from 2nd to 3rd.

Sometimes the tranny kinda "slips" during a 2nd to 3rd shift; rpm's rise about 400rpm before the third gear kicks in. This is when I'm driving slow and with full throttle it won't shift before I let the gas off. It's pretty exciting to overtake, you never know if the next gear is going to work... :(

It does this once every 200 miles or so. Local dealer told me that the atf is fine and there's no error codes registered. They admit that the shifting behavior isn't normal and they recommend changing the whole tranny... I'm sooo happy!!! A car that has got 40k on the odometer.

Has anyone got a clue if it's possible to mount a manual tranny from an older model R AWD????
