Stiff accelerator

The accelerator pedal has felt stiff ever since I bought the car. I almost forgot about its stiffnes but after hopping in my sisters new Sentra, it felt as if my car weighed 10 tons compared to hers. My 850 is a LP Turbo model which is supposed to have kick from the get-go (no turbo lag). But why does it seem soo heavy? I have to push for about 3-4 inches before I get any real torque. Once it gets going, it flies, but the accelerator seems to be stiff... Is this normal?
