remote keyless won't work 850 1993

Well, I found someone who has a junk 850, but he says the remote worked, so I used his transmitter, did the reprogramming by turn9ing ignition on and off 5 times in 30 seconds and leaving on the fifth time, then pressing a button on transmitter. Nothing. Yet the doors all lock when I use the kry. So, I guess I will locate the receiver and see if it is connected. Will let you know!
