Mysterious Groaning on startup. Please help! 850 1996

Dave,

I'm new to the board. I've been looking at a 95 turbo wagon and when I first started it, it did a similar thing. I would describe it as a loud whistle. It's much different than a whistle from a turbo. It's much louder and distinctive. Also, it would only do it when running slightly faster than idle speed. At idle it would dissapear. I talked to a friend of mine with a 96 volvo turbo wagon, and he described the exact same thing. He said it seems to start when temps drop below 20 degrees F. I only support I can offer as that you're not alone.
