Stalling: spark plugs/distributor, or fuel relay (or other)? V70-XC70 1998

my 98 starting stalling and having a difficult time restarting sometime last year. we had loaned it to a high school son of a friend. Anyhow, when i got it back, i checked the plugs [pretty corroded], cap showing some green corrosion. rotor almost completely coverd with corrosion. I used a wire brush on dremel and cleaned them all up. Has run well ever since. the cap, rotor, and plugs all oem Volvo were new about 5 years ago and probably 50k miles. I have ordered new ign parts to replace them at some time. rock auto had good price on bosch cap and rotor. I ordered original plugs from ebay seller.
