2001 XC70 PCV issue V70-XC70

Hello all,

Just bought a 2001 XC70 with 110K on it as well as a parts car - same year - for under $1000. I know that this vintage and model has some issues (transmission, AWD & ECM) but I took the chance.
The "only" problem with the car was it is leaking engine oil - supposedly caused by bad PCV system. I have changed that before on my 850, so no big deal I thought. I am beginning suspect that the PCV is not the only cause of the oil leaks. I can see it has definitely been worked on but maybe not properly. I will replace the PCV components but - looking at a FCP video - they say that you should be able to blow compressed air into the bottom port in the engine block and feel pressure coming out of the oil filler neck. I am not feeling the air coming out there, and they then say that I may have to remove the crankcase. I have no problem doing that, but what am I looking for here? Do any of you have experience with this part of the PCV system? What should I look for?
Thanks
