Hand held generic code readers only work for generic codes and usually for engine and emissions related problems.

You want a Vida/dice on a lap top computer or something that has Volvo specific diagnostics. Do a search on Ebay, just beware of old junk. You need one that states that it can reset SRS and ABS at a minimum.
