Yes. Everything on the 01 models is controled by individual processors, and they are all linked to a central module. Comunication between modules sometimes gets interrupted and strange things happen. Often "rebooting clears up intermittent problems, only to resurface later. Some problems are corectable by software downloads, others are wiring or hardware related. There are numerous trans faults that will set an emissions code. The engine and trans control units are closely related and a lot of information is exchanged constantly. As long as the warning lights are out, it's safe to drive, but get it checked out as soon as possible.
