Starting in 2001, the side message screen is a plus sometimes. The CEL is usually reserved for severe errors and pollution control problems.

I don't know of any diagnostics for the VVT solenoid, Google might be your friend there. A VVT failure usually results in a low numbered code like P0012-15.

A turbo failure will usually make itself known when it is spooled up, not at idle.
