2002 t5 Turbo - low oil - turbo damage

Klaus, Thank you again (in advance) you've helped me before. I'll check the turbo. RE the VVT solenoid - assuming that stands for variable valve timing solenoid? If so, any test? Resistance? Or is it worth simply replacing to be sure. Also, re code, on my car (BMW) i get OBD-Check engine light? There's no light on her dash. What would show signs of code on dash - side messages screen?
