Is the noise on the driver or passenger side? You could use a long stick, put one end on your ear and carefully touch the other end to the alt, PS pump, condensor, etc to pinpoint the noise.

Are your engine mounts in good shape?

If the noise is on the driver's side, check the cold air pump under the battery. And check the ATF level in the tranny.
