Just got done looking through the parts listing for calipers and rotors for c70 1998, and the AWDs. The rotors are the same, choice of two part numbers depending on VIN breaks, rotor parts # 272276, 271788. The calipers are even more of a VIN break down for the 1998 I didn't bother trying to figure out the differences, (i'm not a part guy). Just the fact that there are a lot of choices for the calipers tells me something is up. Maybe talking with a rep would clear up the difference and shed some light on your desire to make changes.
