shock replacement S80 1999

I only did one side at a time off the ground. I jacked the 1998 V70 at the normal wheel location and placed the jack stand on the sub frame that cradles the engine. Be sure to chock the rear wheels. You will need the floor jack to raise the suspension and get the end links off/on.

Before you get started, loosen the large nut on top of the strut. 1/2 turn is enough. Use a small wrench to hold the spindle of the shock as you break loose the large nut, do not use pliers on the shock tube as they will crimp the soft metal. There is a star nut holding the strut to the spring, no not move that until the spring is compressed.

As to L/R hand drive, most of the suspension items are the same. The dash wiring, filters, and steering gear are different. VADIS or ALLDATADIY do have diagrams for left hand cars. Visit your local library for ALLDATA, some have subscriptions and you can pay 10 cents for each page you copy.
