Not a safety issue, but it could be cold/humid related. Does this mean you actually use the parking brake? Most people just shove it into park and the brake shoes never get used. If you use the parking brake, the hardware could be getting a bit rusty and slower to release.
Unfortunately, to grease the moving parts, the rotor must come off. The good part is the brakes get adjusted after putting the rotor back on.
I have to do that to my 854 ASAP, as the parking brake does not work.
