Hitting objects lightly with the bumper is not the problem. It's hitting objects with the radiator that causes damage. The mounting ears on the side of the radiator break off or the side tank seperates from the core. Problem is the radiator, intercooler, and A/C condenser hang pretty low on the car. A standard concrete parking lot block can take out a radiator. To my knowledge Volvo is not looking into this as a problem, but then I'm not privy to upper level info. As the design is essentially the same from 92-2000 on all 850, S/V-70 cars and a campaign has not been deemed necessary, I wouldn't expect anything. Just be aware that the radiator and oil pan are among the lowest points on the car and drive accordingly.
