Remote Start V70-XC70 2002

I wouldn't install one. I had one put in my previous 98 XC70 but with the newer chassis cars and the electronics involved I think you may be asking for trouble. It's been my experience too that a lot...not all...but a lot of these shops do a hack job on these installs and cut into wiring harnesses when installing these especially in newer cars. Can't say for sure but I do believe all P2 chassis cars have chips in the keys to allow the immobilizer system to do its job and not allow the car to start without it. This being said you will need to have a bypass module installed and in some cases require a spare key (valet key) mounted in a little box under the dash so the immobilizer system doesn't freak out and then allows the car to start.

Running synthetic in my car I am starting it and then driving shortly thereafter and it warms up quick. When cold starting my S60 the RPMs after start hit about 1500. This continues for about 40 seconds and then they drop to about 900 for another 20 seconds. After this RPM drops to normal idle around 650-700 I believe. When this happens I start driving. I figured this slight waiting time allows for oil to get in all the needed places which is good enough for me.

Last winter when I was wondering about idle warm up times I believe Klaus indicated it was best to start and go...as to avoid hot spots in the engine. Just be sure to obviously take it easy on the engine until you hit proper operating temperature.

Steve
