Early and late tensioner setups S70 1998

Next project on my daughter's 98 S70 NA is belts, tensioner etc. In fact we are going to do the water pump this time around too. Did this at 99k, and I seem to recall it's the earlier, cylinder tensioner, but my notes don't say. Unfortunately the serial number on the front cover is badly weathered so I can't tell from that. Is there anything in the VIN that will tip me off? I guess I can take the front cover off, but thought maybe production date/VIN might help me.
