Slow front O2 sensor - long post 850

My 850 spends most of it's time with short runs across town. When I get out on the interstate and crank up the RPMs (I goose it to high RPMs on the on ramps)
then I was getting slow O2 OBD codes.
OK so I started using 93 octane ,At least I was paying for what they said was 93 octane. :-) (that's another thread) Then the O2 codes weren't so fast to get thrown, but still I get them.

OK the front O2 sensor isn't making the car happy, especially with high RPMs.
I'm wondering what impact that old O2 sensor has on performance and mileage
and when is the right time to change it out. I can't see any improvement
in mileage by switching from 87 octane to 93, and I'm paying attention to
multiple sources saying to avoid 87 octane gas.

What to do with the front O2 sensor? You can buy a lot of gas for what that critter costs.

????? Bill
