Happy Thanksgiving, Brickboarders!
So I hit a deer (grr) with my V70. The insurance was going to total it with only a hood, quarter panel, headlight, and various little bits to fix. I pleaded my case and they are letting me fix it (and paying me to do it!) for about half of the $5500 estimate.
So, on to my question: The A/C condenser was the only mechanical bit that took some damage. I replaced it with a new one--very easy. Even before I replaced it (the A/C system was actually still holding pressure), the compressor was being weird. It wouldn't always turn on. I've already done the bread clip fix. The pressure was definitely high enough on the low-side port. I was confused.
Now, I went to recharge the system after the new condenser went in and I get nothing. I tried jumping the pressure switch by the firewall--nothing. The light comes on inside the car when I hit A/C, but the compressor just will not turn on.
I have a pretty good knowledge of most things mechanical, but I've never done much work on A/C systems. Where do I start here? The A/C worked very well up until this deer incident.
Thanks for any guidance.
Nate
